THE RANTINGS OF A DRUNK GIRL – NSFW

April 21, 2017

Would you have sex with a girl walking nakedly down the street? I think most people would contrarily look down on this girl, calling her all sorts of derogatory names. Following this logic, how has it ever been an acceptable excuse that women who are provocatively clad are asking for sexual assault? You wouldn’t leap at a fully nude passerby (in fact, you would probably cringe/flee), yet you would ravage a fully dressed woman minding her business walking a trail alone at night. Hmm.

I understand that this is not how most rape occurs – no, overwhelmingly our friends and families are our rapists, in our own houses nonetheless. If that doesn’t make your lunch sit heavy, shame on you. Statistically, 1 in every 3 rape victims has suicidal thoughts. Of those women, 13% will make an attempt, sometimes even years later. To you victims, I say don’t talk about it, ok? Don’t talk about it at work. Don’t talk about it to your friends. Don’t EVER talk about it with your family. As a matter of fact, go see a therapist. Go pay someone to let you say your assailant’s name out loud because the rest of society doesn’t want to hear it.

How can we expect survivors not to think about their rape every single day of their lives? How can we imprison their assailants for 3, 5, or 7 years and then send them on back out with outstanding commissary balances and best wishes. That abomination of a person should be legally required to bear a mark for the world to see. If I have to wear that memory on the inside of my eyelids, hear a reminder on the radio, see a re-enactment on TV, etc., he should have at least that. Brand him with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo style reminder. I don’t care how long ago it happened, 4 months, 18 years, what does it matter? What imbecile gets to dictate the statute of limitations for rape cases? My rape may have happened 2 years ago, but to me, I was raped last week, this morning, at lunch today. It never goes away. Good thing its punishment can, right?

Realistically, rape and assault could easily be as common a conversation topic as this weekend’s shoe sale or how much of an idiot your coworker was at the bar last weekend. Think about the people you love most. Chances are, someone at least tried to take their individuality at some point. I pray for his/her sake, and yours too, that the monster didn’t succeed.

But oh, how funny is it to joke about! Your work load raped you? Haha, let’s be child rapers for Halloween! Even just the word ‘rape’ should sound like jagged metal scraping through a thin sheet of aluminum to your ears. It should make your ears bleed and resound in your skull more than society’s other outcast verbiage like moist, cunt, or incest. Your soul should be in uproar every time you hear of another person falling victim to a rapist. You should rise out of your seat and fling Monday’s coffee mug through the nearest glassy portal of exit. TELL ME WHY THEN, DO VOICES LOWER AND EYES GLASS OVER AT THE MENTION  OF SATURDAY NIGHT’S SECRET? Why do hands instinctively grasp for a rug under which the conversation, the memories can be hastily swept? STOP IT! Cry with your brothers, avenge with your sisters, appeal with your politicians; REACT. Just react.
You guys, I am irate and I am hurt. I have nothing else to say.

Tldr; Hey, remember that time you were raped? Shit day, am I right? See if you can just go ahead and forget about it for our sakes. Thx, BB.
